Dear USBA Members

 

            At the Special Membership meeting held on April 20th at the USBA Office at 29 Ethan Allen Avenue, Colchester, Vermont final votes were cast and the proxy ballots were tabulated for the election of 2006 USBA Board of Directors positions of Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer and Independent Directors.  As a result of this election, the following individuals will serve on the USBA Board of Directors:

The current representative and alternate representative from the USBA to the USOC’s AAC will serve as directors of the Association until the expiration of their terms

One director who satisfies the definition of “Athlete Representative” as defined by the USOC (Article XVII, Section 17.7 B) shall be directly elected by those members of the Association who satisfy that same definition.  The USBA will conduct an election from among those satisfying this definition.

The members of Membership Group B (Officials and Coaches) will elect one currently IBU certified IR or TD as a Director.

One Director will be directly elected by the organization(s) which comprise the organizational membership Group E (National Organization).  All organizational members were provided the opportunity to provide documentation to support their inclusion in this category.  Only one organization, National Guard Sports, completed the application process for the Group E designation.  The NG Sports is in the midst of it own transition.  A new commanding general and other staff changes are taking place.  In the interim, they have designated Art Stegen to serve in this position until a replacement is named.

Due to the withdrawal of the candidate for the position of Secretary, this position was not listed on the ballot.  Immediately upon this notification, the Nominations Committee was asked to identify another nominee and submit the name to the Ethics Committee.  This process is in its final stages.  Additional nominations for this office may be made by any member if supported by the signature of twenty members of the Association.  A Special election for this position will be conducted as soon as possible

On May 20th, the spring meeting of the Board of Directors will be held in the new USBA Office on the third floor of New Gloucester Hall, 49 Pineland Drive of the Pineland Farms complex, New Gloucester, Maine.  All members are welcome to attend.
